What is BHIM App
India’s Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi launched an application on Friday called BHIM to make it easy for everyone to allow digital payments directly from the bank account. This United Payments Interface (UPI) based application will allow to send or request money for making digital payments. This payment method is more reliable, fast, and secure to make cashless payment through mobile phones amongst all the other cashless payment method.
After the demonetization step, Prime Minister Narendra Modi exhorted citizens to use digital modes of transaction where one would not need a mobile phone or Internet connectivity but only the thumbprint. Apart from this app, the interface can be accessed by using USSD by dialing *99# from any kind of mobile phone and this can be accessed without using internet. To use BHIM, you need to register your bank account with BHIM and set a UPI PIN for the bank account.
How to Transfer Money from BHIM
The user can send or receive money from friends through a mobile number which act as payment address. Money can be sent to non-UPI supported banks using IFSC and MMID codes. You need to enter the recipient name, account number and bank IFSC code. By generating a QR code for a particular amount , money can be requested from anyone.
By using this app you can transfer the money without filling those tedious bank account details again and again and can make easily direct to direct bank payments within some seconds. For sending the money, go to Bharat Interface for Money app Home screen and click on send money option and enter the receiver’s mobile number. Enter the amount and select the bank account number from which you want to send money. Your amount will be send. For requesting money, select for the request money option and enter the receiver’s mobile number. Enter the amount and send the request.
BHIM Full Form
The app will contain all the transaction detail and hence the candidates will be able to check bank balance and transaction summary through the app. For checking the transaction history, go to Bharat Interface for Money Home Screen and then Transaction History. Maximum transaction of Rs 10,000 is allowed with an upper limit of 20,000 worth of transactions in a day. There are no transaction charges through BHIM money transfer. This app is currently available for only Android users (version 4.1.1 and above) and will soon be made available on iOS.
How to Install BHIM App for Android Phone
For downloading the app on android mobile phones, follow the below steps:
- Go to play store and find BHIM app
- OR click on the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.org.npci.upiapp
- Install the app and open it once installed.
- Select your preferred language (Till now this app is only available in 2 languages i.e. English and Hindi) and click on next
- Tap on “let’s get started”
- Verify your mobile number (Make sure that the mobile number to get verified is in your phone and same number should be registered with your bank)
- Your mobile number will be verified and you will be asked to enter the 4 digit pass-code.
- Confirm your pass-code and select your bank which you want to be registered with BHIM transactions.
- Enter your bank details and you will now be able to send or receive money by entering the mobile number
